Meta Stock May Increase by More Than 20%: How AI Chatbots May Change Meta’s Prospects for Profit

Meta Platforms has emerged as a standout performer among big technology companies, driven by its aggressive investments in artificial intelligence. According to William Blair analyst Ralph Schackart, AI-powered chatbots could further propel Meta’s growth, positioning the company for substantial financial gains. This article explores the reasons behind Meta’s success, the potential of AI chatbots to drive revenue, and the challenges the company may face.

Meta’s Recent Stock Performance

Meta Platforms’ stock has experienced remarkable growth, climbing 61% over the past year as of Tuesday’s close. This surge reflects the market’s enthusiasm for Meta’s strategic focus on artificial intelligence. By leveraging AI, Meta has enhanced its content-recommendation algorithms and advertising tools, which are key drivers of its revenue growth.

AI Chatbots: A Game-Changer for Meta

Schackart’s analysis suggests that AI-powered chatbots could unlock a significant revenue stream for Meta. The company has introduced a generative AI (GenAI) tool that enables businesses to run custom chatbots through WhatsApp. Currently in the alpha phase, this product is being tested by select brands in English-speaking markets. If successfully scaled, these chatbots could revolutionize customer engagement and open up new monetization opportunities.

Revenue Projections from AI Chatbots

Schackart estimates that if users engage with WhatsApp chatbots for an average of 1.6 conversations per day by 2030, at a cost of four cents per conversation, Meta could generate $16.6 billion in incremental revenue by 2025. This figure could exceed $45 billion by 2030. The projections become even more compelling with the introduction of auction-based pricing for chatbot interactions. Under this model, Meta’s revenue from AI chatbots could surpass $100 billion by 2030.

Meta’s Competitive Edge

One of Meta’s greatest advantages lies in the scale of its platforms. WhatsApp alone boasts a user base of approximately 2.7 billion, giving Meta unparalleled reach compared to competitors like Salesforce and Microsoft, which are also developing AI chatbots for commercial use. This massive user base positions Meta to dominate the AI chatbot market.

Challenges in Adoption

Despite the promising revenue potential, customer acceptance of AI-driven chatbots remains a significant hurdle. A 2023 survey conducted by Gartner revealed that 64% of consumers prefer companies not to use AI for customer service. Overcoming this resistance will require Meta to demonstrate the effectiveness and reliability of its chatbot technology.

Conservative Assumptions and Growth Potential

While Schackart’s revenue projections are promising, they are based on conservative assumptions regarding the speed of adoption and the ability of chatbots to replace traditional customer service roles. If Meta successfully addresses these challenges, the financial impact could exceed current expectations.
